A CHOKWE MASK

The projecting oval mouth with carved filed teeth, pierced slits to the blackened domed eyes beneath blackened brows, incised chingelyengelye marks to forehead and cheeks, that on the forehead linked to a double band curving down to the right cheek, a further double curved band linked to the motif on the left cheek and almost joining the nose, metal ring in each ear, reddish patina with blackened embellishments, some insect damage
