PARTLY EARLY 17TH CENTURY
With slender blade of flattened-diamond section changing to flattened-hexagonal section, stamped 'Sahagom En Toledo' within the short fuller on one side, 'In Te Domino Spera' on the reverse, and the ricasso struck with a mark, 'S' crowned, on both sides, gilt cast-iron hilt decorated with flowers and foliage in low relief within a series of fish-roe panels, and the grip bound with wire and 'Turk's heads'.
