Cover enamelled with an Arab merchant disrobing an odalisque feigning shock, her jewellery and bodice with foiled "gems", beside them another seated courtesan, her head wrapped in a shemagh, in the background a woman carrying a large jar on her head, palm trees and Middle Eastern buildings, reverse engraved with a monogram on oval reserve with linear ground, gilt interior
