A COPPER-RED-GLAZED DISH
MING DYNASTY, 15TH-16TH CENTURY
The dish has shallow rounded sides, and is covered inside and out with a glaze of crushed-strawberry-red color that shades to mushroom on much of the exterior and below the white rim on the interior. An apocryphal Xuande mark is on the base. Together with a copper-red-glazed dish, Qianlong six-character seal mark in underglaze blue and of the period (1736-1795), covered inside and out with a glaze of even, dark, crushed-strawberry color below the white rim.
6¼ and 6½ in. (16 and 16.5 cm.) diam.
