Lot Essay

This miniature dresser displays many characteristics of the Cornish tradition, including the use of pilasters each side of the shelves, the use of bowfront shelves and top surface, the polychrome finish and the multiple drawers in the base.

It is believed that small dressers of this type were hung on the walls of cottages and decorated with small items of pottery.
