Tsar Nicolas II (1868-1918) married Alix Prinzessin von Hessen und bei Rhein (Alexandra Feodorowna) (1872-1918) on the 26th of November 1894, in the Winter Palace St. Petersburg. The present tablecloth is woven with the monogram of Nicolas and Alexandra, interestingly the initial for Nicolas is written in Cyrillic and those of Alexandra in Latin script. Quite possibly this tablecloth was woven to commemorate the wedding in 1894.
