THE DIAL SIGNED 'SAMUEL RUELROTTERDAM', THE MOVEMENT 18TH CENTURY, THE CASE BASICALLY 18TH CENTURY AND ASSOCIATED WITH EXTENSIVE REPLACEMENTS
The arched bonnet with blind fretwork, carved with stags and scrolling foliage and surmounted with symbols of time, the brass and silvered metal clock dial with Roman numerals, Arabic second hand, lunar phase and date aperture flanked by spandrels, strike/not strike lever by 15, the arch with automaton rocking ships against a painted cityscape, the eight day movement secured with tags to the dial feet, with anchor escapement, Dutch strike and alarm on two bells, the paneled case with arched string-inlaid cabinet door above a bombé base with canted corners, on later bracket feet
