Lot Essay

This oil lamp is very similar to a Dutch earthware oil lamp ("snotneus") from the first half of the 17th Century. (catalogus Alkmaar, S. Ostkamp c.s. 2002; De Beerput als Bron, no. 92, p. 44, illustrated.)
