DAOGUANG SEAL MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1821-50)
With steep flaring sides, the exterior delicately enamelled on the exterior with fruiting and flowering gourds and bamboo growing from the base over the rim into the interior beside two butterflies in flight, the cover similarly decorated and with the underglaze blue Daoguang seal mark repeated in the interior of the finial

Lot Essay

A similar bowl and cover, also dating to the Daoguang period, is illustrated in Geng Baochang, Ming Qing Ciqi Jianding, Beijing, 1993, p. 303, fig. 513. A pair of bowls, again with Daoguang marks, was sold Christie's London, 11 May 2010, lot 258.
