Lot Essay

This table is a rare example of Neoclassical American furniture with both front and rear front-facing feet. For a similar example attributed to Phyfe with cabriole legs and paw feet see Sotheby’s, New York, 30 January 1988, lot 1810. Another related example attributed to Phyfe is in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art (60.13).
