Lot Essay

The present lot is very similar to a kelleh sold Christie's London, 16 October 2003, lot 305. That piece bore an unclear written signature Dar karkhane-ye Omidi(?) and was dated 1869/70. The analogy in terms of design, spacing and colouring makes it probable that our kelleh is from the same weaver or workshop.
