A fine 19th-Century lacquered-brass simple theodolite,
signed on the silvered compass E. Kraft & Sohn in Wien No 260, the 9½-inch (24.1cm.) long telescope with draw tube focusing to the eyepiece mounted with a silver vernier scale on an index arm to read off the silvered semi-circular degree scale, with bubble level, mounted on the edge of a rectangular brass compass mount, the glazed compass with degree scale, edgebar needle with jewelled cap, and clamp, with tangent screw fine adjustment and tripod or staff mounting beneath, contained in the original fitted and green felt-lined fruitwood case, with a brass plummet, the case with two iron carrying handles, two brass hooks and eyes, and a latch with a small padlock and key -- 11½in. (29.1cm.) wide
