A fine and large silver-gilt filigree Scroll of Esther case with contemporary Megillah
Apparently unmarked, Ottoman Empire, second half 19th century
Case:
The tapering cylindrical handle terminating in a spherical knob, the cylindrical case of the central section hinged for removal (lacks one clasp), decorated all over with scrolled stylised foliage, applied with flowerheads and lozenge-shaped ornaments, the upper section in the form of a graduating 4 tierd open crown, decorated with scrollwork, lozenges and stylised floral ornaments with granulation, terminating in a cone-form knob topped by a red bead

Megillah on Vellum, 8 membranes, 14.5 cm high, 305.5 cm long, 22 columns of 17 lines, text: 12 cm high and 282 cm long, blind horizontal and vertical ruling, sefardic square script in black ink with taggin (crownlets)
