DAOGUANG SIX-CHARACTER SEALMARKS AND OF THE PERIOD (1821-1850)
The exterior of each with four circular panels containing figures in lakeside landscapes, three predominantly in grisaille, the fourth decorated in enamels of soft tones, on a bright lemon-yellow ground with dense feathery scrollwork in graviata, divided by multi-coloured sprigs in two registers, the interior centred with a formal florette with radiating ruyi petals and smaller flowers

Lot Essay

Compare with a similar pair of bowls in the Hong Kong Museum of Art, illustrated in The Wonders of the Potter's Palette, Hong Kong, 1984, no. 102. A single bowl from the Yangzhitang Collection is illustrated in Imperial Porcelain of Late Qing, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, 1983, pl.36, and sold at Christie's Singapore, 30 March 1997, lot 271. A pair of Daoguang bowls of very similar design and size was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 28 November 2005, lot 1353.
