A FINE SMALL-SWORD WITH SILVER-GILT HILT
Circa 1750, probably Iberian
With associated broad tapering blade of hollow triangular section etched at the forte with running conventional foliage and flower-heads, the hilt with double-shell concave towards the hand, forming a cup, the ricasso with unusual pierced and chased silver-gilt sleeve, the surfaces cast and chased in relief throughout with trophies of arms, game, agricultural implements, and running flowers and foliage framed in rococo scrolls, and with wooden grip bound with twisted silver-gilt wire
