A FINE US MOUNTED ARTILLERY OFFICER'S SABRE BY A.W. SPIES
The curved fullered blade (marked 6 on back, A.W. Spies/Warranted), amply embellished with gilt highlighted American Eagle, panoply-of-arms and florals with two bright etched floral panels, the whole within a bright blued ground, gilt washed brass bird's head type pommel, flaming-bomb knuckle guard, vacant langets and quillon with floral motif, carved bone grip, gilt washed brass scabbard decorated with leafage and engraved American Eagle.
30 inch blade.
Some minor light staining, bright blue with wear apparent at ricasso, some gilt remains on blades edge, scabbard with denting.
