The solid mahogany arched case with detachable cover having a concealed lock in the base, the engraved and silvered dial of regulator lay-out signed Dent 61. Strand & 34. Royal Exchange, Maker to her Majesty & H.R.H. the Prince of Wales, blued steel hands, 24-hour hour ring numbered 1895 in the centre, with additional twice-12 silvered hour ring, the reverse of the dial plate also punch-numbered 1895, the movement with rectangular brass plates with four conical shaped pillars pinned at the backplate, chamfered shoulders, high count wheel train with six crossings, the escapement mounted on the backplate with jewelled pallets to the Vulliamy-type deadbeat, long two-piece flat brass crutch (in the French style), the pendulum to Dent's design with steel rod and steel mercury-filled jar with brass weight tray, swinging against a calibrated silvered beatscale secured to the backboard, maintaining power to the great wheel, all brasswork spot-decorated, the movement and pendulum suspended from a heavy steel bracket secured to the backboard

Staeger op. cit. notes There is no other known Dent regulator which goes on such a light weight, the motive force required to operate the clock is extremely small. The movement is of the highest quality.
