A FLEMISH BAROQUE GILT REPOUSSE-BRASS, TORTOISESHELL, EBONY AND WALNUT CABINET ON STAND** Second Quarter 17th Century, with clock and some mounts added in the late 18th/early 19th century The breakfronted cabinet with central frieze drawer centered by a white enamelled dial with Arabic and Roman chapter ring and blued steel hands behind an ormolu pendulum cast as a bust of a gentleman housed within a gabled relief with triton-mounts and cast putti figures to either side, above a pair of doors flanked by Corinthian columns, enclosing one long flanked by five small drawers surrounding a procenium with a shepherd playing bagpipes flanked by two putti in an architectural setting with parquetry floor and mirrored walls flanked to either side by five small drawers and engaged caryatid pilaster figures the stand with three drawers, later spiral-turned ebonized legs joined by later ebonized incurved box stretcher with bun feet, with some replacements to feet, formerly with a gallery, with a paper label inscribed in black ink The Cabinet belonged to Louis the Sixteenth was taken from the Louvre at the time of the Revloution and afterwards sent to Edinborough...was some years at Holyrood House., the large drawers with a paper label inscribed in the same hand No. 1 through No. 10 accordingly and paper label on reverse printed R.
