A FLEMISH TAPESTRY FRAGMENT woven in wools and silks with winged putti clinging to foliate trails on a brown ground above a triple dolphin-headed fountain, the top section centred by a claw-footed pedestal with fruiting swags flanked by peacock feathers, mid-17th Century, previously the border of a tapestry, reduced in size 134¾in. x 123½in. An identical border appears on the series of The Story of Zenobia, Queen of Palmyra, by the workshop of Geraert Peemans in the Bavarian state collection, Munich, illustrated H.
