19th Century
decorated in gold and coloured hiramakie and takamakie and scattered nashiji. with a seated bearded figure holding a fan beside a recumbent stag, the reverse with rockwork issuing scattered grasses, the interiors decorated in nashiji; a rounded cylindrical bead decorated in silver with a flower; and a wooden netsuke of a grimacing mask, the inro -- 3½in. (8.9cm.) long, (the inro with tiny chips to edges, wear).
