Edo Period (18th century), sealed Shiomi Masanari
The inro lacquered with a roiro-nuri ground and decorated with a school of carp swimming upstream in silver, gold and black togidashi, interiors lacquered nashiji; fitted with an ivory gourd ojime and a rectangular lacquered-wood netsuke with butterflies in gold takamaki-e, signed and sealed indistictly Yoyusai and inscribed Hoitsu hitsu (after a design by Hoitsu)
