A FRENCH CARVED OAK CENTRE TABLE WITH AN ITALIAN PIETRA DURA TOP
19th century
The rectangular top inlaid with various hard stones, including lapis lazuly, agate and various alabasters, depicting a central string of pearls within a field of scrolling acanthus leaves, various flowers and fruit and a verde antico and griotte rouge border, the re-entrant corners decorated with exotic birds, with a stiff-leaf carved border and a frieze centred by a pierced carved trophy of love and simulated panels carved with scrolling foliage, with a ribbon-suspended floral garlanded apron, on laurel-wrapped turned tapering legs joined by shaped H-stretchers with a central urn-shaped finial
