The foliate engraved case with conforming mask to the circular white enamel Roman dial with blued steel moon hands and subsidiary seconds ring, signed in the center Bourdin Her Bté Rue de la Paix Paris, with alarm disc below, the silvered lever platform with bimetallic balance, strike/repeat/alarm on bell via two hammers on the backplate stamped 3940, with shuttered winding holes to the solid rear door with three-position strike selection lever and engraved with a repeat signature within a foliate cartouche, the engraver's signature at the base Gemengeot Graveur; leather travelling case

Lot Essay

Bourdin, A.E., Paris. Listed at Rue de la Paix during the period 1840-1860. At the Paris expositions he won Bronze medal in 1844, Silver in 1855 and Bronze again in 1867 for carriage clocks.
