A French gilt-brass striking and repeating carriage clock with chronometer escapement and alarm, circa 1840
The foliate cast case modelled with vine leaves and bunches of grapes, with female figures to the canted angles, solid rear door with shutttered winding holes, with baluster handle issuing from leaf clasps, with florally engraved mask to the white enamel Roman dial signed BOLVILLER A PARIS below VI, fine blued steel moon hands and sweep centre seconds, with alarm dial below, the twin barrel movement with engine-turned platform to the bimetallic balance with helical spring to underpinned chronometer escapement, strike/repeat/alarm on bell to the backplate with repeat stamp -- 6½in. (16.5cm.) high
