A French gilt-brass striking and repeating carriage clock with calendar and alarm, last quarter 19th century
The corniche case with white enamel Roman dial with Arabic five minutes, rubbed retail signature to the centre, with subsidiary rings below for day, alarm and date, blued steel moon hands (hour replaced), the twin barrel movement with silvered platform to cut bimetallic balance with lever escapement, strike/repeat/alarm on gong to the backplate stamped for Margaine and numbered 8241, with numbered key -- 6in. (15cm.) high
