Rectangular with sloping cover, front with Classical female figures and putti amidst clouds, amatory trophies to cover, the pale yellow sides with trade labels for Allumettes Chimiques, Paris, 15 c.(entimes), the back enamelled with Ceres, goddess of agriculture, with attendant putto holding aloft her scythe, interior of cover with lakeside view and bridge, inside of body painted with a dark red scrollwork band, striking surface to base
