Inlaid overall with nailed trellis pattern, the circular top with central 18th Century porcelain plaque with floral bouquet and with pierced basket-weave gallery above a frieze-drawer with 18th Century rectangular floral porcelain plaque flanked by frieze-panels centered by an Apollo's mask with foliate scrolls, on three rectangular supports with simulated fluting and joined by a circular stretcher on cabriole legs headed by a floral mount and terminating in foliate scroll sabots, with stencil French & Co number '13954', bearing spurious stamp 'M.CARLIN' and further stamp now erased to underside of top

This elegant porcelain-mounted gueridon, with its basket-weave galleries, is based on examples by Martin Carlin now in distinguished collections such as the J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles, the Musée du Louvre, Paris, and the Wrightsman Collection in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
