A FRENCH ORMOLU-MOUNTED AMARANTH, SYCAMORE, MARQUETRY AND PARQUETRY COMMODE A VANTAUX AFTER THE MODEL BY JEAN-HENRI RIESENER, BY CHARLES-GUILLAUME WINCKELSEN, PARIS, DATED 1865 The breakfront Carrara marble top above three scrolled acanthus frieze drawers, over a pair of drawers inlaid sans traverses with a central scrolling foliage and a musical trophy, the angles headed with acanthus clasps, the sides decorated with lattice and patera-inlaid panels, on heavy scrolled acanthus feet, the top of the carcass stamped CHLES WINCKELSEN 21. Rue St. Louis (AU MARAIS) 1865, the lockplates stamped SOUCHET A PARIS 37 1/8 in. (94.3 cm.) high, 67 1/8 in. (170.5 cm.) wide, 24 7/8 in. (63.2 cm.) deep
