Lot Essay

Isidore Jules Bonheur gained a wide and prolific reputation as an animalier sculptor during the second half of the 19th century. His models were often inspired by and complimented the works of his sister Rosa, who created a series of animal studies after a visit to the Scottish Highlands in 1856.
