A French porcelain-mounted ormolu striking mantel clock, 19th century
The drum-shaped case in the form of a flower and surmounted by a Meissen porcelain figure of young Bacchus raising a toast, with branches below and to the sides terminating in porcelain flowers, the naturalistic base mounted with a bird and a dragon, flanking a Meissen porcelain figure of a garlanded youth with billing doves and reading a scroll inscribed Les yeux Comun, the white enamel Roman and Arabic dial (restored) with pierced gilt-metal hands, the twin barrel movement with silk suspension and countwheel strike on bell; the porcelain figures 18th century -- 19¼in. (49cm.) high
