A FRENCH VERDURE TAPESTRY en suite with the preceding lot, woven in wools and silks with Susannah disrobing by her pool with the elders beyond within a baroque garden, the possibly associated floral borders divided by later slips and inset with an associated coat-of-arms, late 17th/early 18th Century, reduced, possibly Felletin 8ft. x 11ft. (244cm. x 335cm.)

Lot Essay

The arms are probably those of Pannier d'Orgeville of Lyon (see: J. B. Rietstap, Armorial Géneral, vol. II, p. 382), although the colours on the arms are incorrect as it is not permitted in heraldry to put Or on Argent.
