A GEORGE II GOLD-MOUNTED FISHSKIN NÉCESSAIRE
circa 1740
Slightly tapering flattened rectangular fishskin-covered case with rounded sides and slightly arched top and flat base, overlaid with applied rosettes, reeded gold mounts with hinge at the short end, gold button pushpiece, the inside fitted with steel scissors with gold handles, hinged ivory ruler, steel compass with gold pin, incorporated steel nail file and tweezers, incorporated steel bodkin with gold ear spoon, pencil with silver-topped gold cap, folding knife with piqué inlaid tortoiseshell handle and steel blade
