Lot Essay

The unusual pattern of the lobed top, recalls the intricate, symmetrical, and almost sculptural quality of the circular dished and lobed tops attributed to John Channon, Abraham Roentgen, Frederick Hintz and other cabinet-makers, illustrated in C. Gilbert and T. Murdoch, John Channon and brass-inlaid furniture 1730-1760, London, 1993.
