A GEORGE II SILVER TEA KETTLE-ON-STAND
MARK OF ALEXANDER JOHNSTON, LONDON, 1757
Inverted pear shaped, the scroll handle with ivory insulators and terminating at either end in stylised flowers, the sides engraved with a band of foliage and shells, a coat-of-arms on one side and a crest on the other, with part-fluted leaf-capped spout and artichoke finial to hinged cover, the openwork stand crested on the rim and with three leaf and scroll supports, the centrally fixed spirit lamp with detachable top

The arms are those of Alexander, 6th Baron Falconer of Halkertoun (1707-1762) and his wife Frances (1731-1823), daughter of Herbert Mackworth of The Gnoll, co. Glamorgan. (2)
