The close-nailed leather head with interior compartment on a clamp mechanism, the underside of the head inscribed '4' in ink; together with Professor Richardson's wig, 19th century, with a label for 'Stavinski Bedford' and numbered '127'

Provenance
S.W. Wolsey, Buckingham Gate, London, where acquired in November 1955, as 'Fruitwood wig-stand, turned stem, on square chamfered-edge pedestal' (£6).
