A George III mahogany longcase clock, circa 1780
The case with brass ball and spire finials to the pagoda top hood (re-built), Greek key mouldings above the door arch and brass-capped turned columns, thumb-nail mouldings to the sides of the trunk flanking the breakarch door, on stepped plinth, the brass dial with silvered chapter ring signed Melling Chester, subsidiary seconds ring (lacks hand) and date aperture to the centre, foliate and urn spandrels, with silvered plaque to the arch engraved with a sun face, the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement, restorations -- 91½in. (233cm.) high
