The case with brass flambeau urn finials to the pagoda top hood with central foliate cut brass frets, conforming frets above the breakarch, glazed side panels, outset columns, with onion arch top to the trunk door with shaped lenticle glass, decorated with gilt chinoiserie buildings and characters, on stepped plinth with raised panel depicting a bridge scene, the brass dial with silvered chapter ring signed John Taylor LONDON, foliate spandrels, matted centre with subsidiary silvered dials for day, date and seconds, with strike/silent ring in the arch, the five pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement, hour strike on bell with quarter chimes on further eight bells, with pull trip repeat -- 111¾in. (284cm.) high
