The circular base with ribbon-tied reeded handle, with two reeded handles, applied with foliage and palmettes, the fluted stem part chased with foliage, with a spring loaded socket with Greek-key borders, engraved underneath with an inscription, marked on foot and on stem

The inscription reads 'Elizabeth Whitbread The Gift of Her Mother Elizth the Countess Grey Jany 1st 1810'
Provenance
A gift to Elizabeth Whitbread, eldest daughter of Charles Grey, 1st Earl Grey from her mother, Elizabeth Grey (1744-1822), the daughter of George Grey of Southwick.
