A GEORGE JONES MAJOLICA DARK-BLUE-GROUND JARDINIÈRE of shaped-oval bombé form, the sides moulded in relief with a continuous frieze of half-length figures of tritons and sea-nymphs emerging from choppy waves, each side with one triton blowing the horn flanked by two sea-beasts, one ridden by a cherub holding yellow reins, by a nymph supported on a sea-beast and by two nymphs embracing, the interior glazed in turquoise and with a yellow rim, circa 1880
