The rectangular case with three-quarter foliate cast columns to the angles, the front dial with silvered 12 hour time outer ring with touch pieces, brass 24 hour ring and inner alarm disc, steel hand, the lower dial with 1-30 date ring, the rear with strike indication and touch pieces, dial below calibrated 1-8 with touch pieces; the steel posted movement with twin chain fusees with brass barrels and steel wheelwork, now with front swinging pendulum, stamped 'H K' within an oval, bell to top and strike/silent lever to front
6 ½ in. (17 cm.) high, 3 1/8 in. (8 cm.) square at base

Lot Essay

Hans Koch (d. 1603), master in 1554, clockmaker to Albrechts V, between 1557 and 1599 he was clockmaker to the Duke's Court in Munich.
