A GERMAN PAINTED AND SILVERED CENTRE TABLE
Mid-18th Century
The serpentine moulded top with canted angles and inset mirrored top on a green toile panel, above a foliate and rocaille frieze centred by a scallop-shell, the angles with carved shell and acanthus-leaf, the sides with incised trellis pattern ground with conforming rocaille frieze, the inswept legs with carved flowerheads and husks and upspraying acanthus on hoof feet, joined by an x-frame stretcher centred by a flowerhead, adapted from a side table, with one later frieze
30 7/8 in. (78.5 cm.) high; 32 5/8 in. (83 cm.) wide; 23 in. (58 cm.) deep
