Lot Essay

This model was first exhibited at the Salon d'Automne, 1929, Paris. The present example was originally made for the townhouse of a private collector near Paris. A Poillerat gilt-wrought iron and marble console from the same commission was sold at Christie's London, May 16, 2001, lot 115.
