A GILT LACQUERED-BRONZE FIGURE OF VAIROCHANA
MING DYNASTY, CIRCA 16TH CENTURY
The figure sits in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base with his hands held before his chest in dharmachakramudra. He is dressed in a flowing dhoti and adorned with various jewelry, with lotuses at the shoulders. The face is serene in expression, with the hair arranged in a chignon on the top of the head, and secured with a foliate tiara.
