A good 19th-Century grey enamelled and lacquered-brass compound monocular "Van Heurck" microscope,
signed W. WATSON & SONS 313 High Holborn LONDON 9231, the barrel with two graduated draw-tubes, two sets of rack and pinion adjustment and triple nosepiece, with micrometer fine focusing on the shaped limb and fine adjustment screw for the graduated mechanical circuit stage, with substage condensor and diaphragm and plano-concave mirror, mounted on a raised tripod foot with circular brass feet, with Watson 2, 2/3, ½ and in. parachromatic objectives with labelled canisters, and a in. oil immersion objective, selenite stage, sprung slide holder, a brass canister containing various pierced discs with coloured gel segments, and a smaller brass canister (tightly closed) in a fitted mahogany carrying case with key (handle missing) -- 39.4cm. (15½in.) high
