A GOOD PERCUSSION PENNSYLVANIA LONG RIFLE BY DANIEL PANNEBECKER, JR., ABOUT 1850
The octagonal barrel, rifled to .38 caliber, bears punched decorations at muzzle face, German silver fore-sight and rion rear sight, marked near muzzle D.PANNEBECKER on left barrel flat under stock line, striped maple stock with brass trigger guard, counter-plate and ram rod pipes, sheet iron butt plate. Unmarked percussion lock (likely a vintage conversion).
43 inch barrel.
Daniel Pannebecker, West Cocalico, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, about 1825-1861.
Some losses and vintage repairs to wood, nippple a modern replacement.
