Well carved with elegantly draped robes, wearing necklaces and an armlet concealed beneath the folds of his upper arm, his face with crisply outlined features and a benign expression, the undulating hair held back by a tiara and strands of pearls

For the treatment of the dhoti, compare with a closely related example in H. Ingolt, Gandharan Art in Pakistan, cat. no. 280, who likens the fine rippling folds to the silken garments of Sassanian kings and thus interprets it as an image of the prince Siddhartha.
