A GREEK PARCEL GILT SILVER BOWL
LATE HELLENISTIC PERIOD, CIRCA 1ST CENTURY B.C.
Hemispherical in form with a flaring rim, the exterior with a central pentafoliate blossom from which rise thirty-five long flutes, their tips curving outward, a trefoil leaf garland above ornamented with collar-set garnets and blue glass, a spirally-wrapped taenia framed by thin hatched bands below the rim, the blossom, the zones between the flutes, the garland and the taenia all preserving gilding
