The water dropper is modeled as a lotus pod that sits beside a lotus leaf-form water receptacle, which has a small leaf applied on the interior above the narrow aperture through which water flows into the pod. Together with a yellow-glazed model of a boat, 18th/19th century, on which three scholars are shown at leisure beneath a canopy, while a fourth scholar sits in the bow, and an attendant heats wine in the stern. The model has incised details and is covered overall with a glaze of pale lemon-yellow tone.
