A GROUP OF HELLENISTIC AND GRAECO-EGYPTIAN TERRACOTTA HEADS
CIRCA 3RD-1ST CENTURY B.C.
Including the bearded head of a banqueter with remains of pigment; a bearded satyr; a grotesque male; a head of Baubo with ears pierced; a head of a chubby-faced child with wavy hair, loop handle emerging from the back of the head; and a group of Roman glass vessels including a green glass jar with collared neck, 4 in. (10 cm.) high; a green glass flask with twin handles and applied trail under rim and around neck, with silver iridescence, 4 in. (10.5 cm.) high; a pale green glass jar with indented sides and flaring mouth, 2½ in. (6.4 cm.) high; another iridescent glass flask with tall slightly flaring mouth, 3½ in. (9 cm.) high; and a green glass unguentarium with bell-shaped base, 3 7/8 in. (9.7 cm.) high, all 1st-3rd Century A.D.(a lot)
Provenance
Formerly in the collection of Sir Cecil Kisch K.C.I.E., C.B. (1884-1961); acquired in 1949 or earlier. One glass flask with ink inscribed label.
