A GROUP OF WESTERN ASIATIC BRONZE ANIMALS
MAINLY 2ND-1ST MILLENNIUM B.C.
Comprising two zebu with pronounced humps; two ibex, suspension loops on their backs; two rams with curling horns; three bulls; two horses; a cockerel with high crest and fan-shape tail, suspension loop on back, some pierced for suspension, 4¼ in. (10.7 cm.) long max.; a Luristan bronze axe head, the shaft decorated with two rows of prominent spikes and the recumbent figure of a feline, 3 in. (7.5 cm.) high; a heavy bronze pin terminal in the shape of a crouching beast with beak-like muzzle, 3 1/8 in. (8 cm.) long; three bronze harness rings, one surmounted with ibex head with curling horns, another with twin confronting ibex heads, 3¼ in. (8.2 cm.) high max.; and a bronze finial composed of two confronting ibex, with associated bell-shaped mount and seed-head pin, 6¾ in. (17 cm.) high max., all early 1st millennium B.C. (18)
